Handbook Erasmus Mundus Scholar Mobility (2009/2010)
Handbook for incoming scholars within the Erasmus Mundus Masters Programme in Applied Ethics 2009/10
Erasmus Mundus scholarships are available for scholars (academics) who want to carry out research and teaching assignments and scholarly work for an Erasmus Mundus Masters Course. Erasmus Mundus scholarships are for non-European scholars to carry out scholarly work in Europe; and for European scholars to carry out scholarly work outside Europe.
Financial matters
The European Commission has awarded a maximum of 4.000 euros per teacher and one-month-period + a fixed amount of 1000 euros (maximum of three months. The fixed amount 1.000 is meant for travel costs or other costs related to the teaching activity.

The money will be transferred to your account once you arrive at the first university. An advance of the 1.000 fixed amount might be requested from the Consortium.
Visa information
The MAE consortium will furnish you with a formal letter of invitation for your period as a visiting scholar in the framework of the consortium.
The Schengen agreement allows for travel only within the European Union once you have a visa issued by a state that have agreed to the Schengen agreement.
Norway is not a member of the European Union. Foreign nationals may, however, travel freely to Norway as well if they have been granted a visitors¿s visa /up to 90 days¿ duration/ to any state within the Schengen area.

Insurance
Since your visiting period would cover three months or less you must make sure that you have a valid medical insurance and travel insurance for the period in question.
Housing
The MAE consortium will arrange housing for you during your stay at the university/ies.
